Services

Our cutting technology is supported using a cad/cam system whereby we are able to reproduce dimensional drawings, digitise templates or import files via e mail such as dxf or dwg.

Materials can be supplied Free Issue or purchased on behalf of customers.

Turnaround is typically 3-4 days from receipt of material or within 24 hours if required.

Capacity
TMC operates three twin headed water/abrasive cutting machines which can cut components up to 3m x 2m x 130mm thick to a tolerance of 0.25mm, depending upon material thickness.

Advantages
Water/Abrasive jet cutting has several advantages over conventional profiling methods.

  • no heat affected zone – it is a cold process
  • no tool contact therefore no edge deformation
  • materials from 1 to 130mm thick can be profiled
  • virtually any material can be cut
  • substantial material savings because cutting tool is only 1mm wide
  • clean, accurate process
  • no tooling costs
  • Computer ‘nesting’ of parts maximises material utilisation
Technology
Water Jet Cutting
Water is pressurised to 55,000 psi and forced through a diamond or sapphire with an orifice ranging from 0.1 – 0.25mm. The result is an extremely fine bead of water which will cut through any soft material such as foam, rubber, plastic, glass fibre, etc. The cut is clean and accurate.

Abrasive Water Jet Cutting
A sharp mineral ‘Garnet’can be introduced into the water stream and focussed to give a 1mm diameter beam (cutting tool) capable of profiling almost any material, such as aluminium, titanium, stainless steel ceramics, laminates and kevlars, without heat stressing or deforming the material.
